Day 1:
London – Stonehenge – Bath – Devon
Today, get ready to depart on a one week tour of England and discover the numerous lovely cities and attractions riddled throughout this amazing country! After meeting your guide and tour group at Greenwich Station, we’ll depart in our comfortable tour coach and head to one of the most famous sites in England: Stonehenge! You’ll have the option to enter this ancient site and explore on your own, take photos, and enjoy the lush English countryside. Then we’re back on the road and off to the beautiful and historic city of Bath, the famous home of the Roman baths that were built at the height of the Roman Empire. After an orientation tour here, we’ll have some more free time to explore before we head out to Devon, a county in the southwest of England known for its beautiful beaches and national parks. En-route we’ll drive through Cheddar Gorge, a stunning limestone gorge, before enjoying an included welcome dinner in a traditional English pub.

Day 2:
Devon – Mevagissey – St Ives – Tintagel Castle – Devon
Today we’ll discover why Devon is such a gorgeous destination and home to a stunning array of national parks as well as explore the neighboring county of Cornwall. First up we’ll head through Dartmoor, the national park of vast and glorious forest, rivers, and wetlands. From here we’ll arrive in Mevagissey, our first stop of the day and a lovely fishing village on the Cornish coast. Over 6 centuries old, this ancient village is lined with charming chops and cafes for you to explore, as well as find souvenirs. Next up, we’ll continue on our journey to St. Ives, an extremely popular seaside resort. Make sure to try the fish and chips for lunch and enjoy the gorgeous coastline. We’ll end the day with a drive to the impressive Tintagel Castle, an ancient castle that has long been associated with the legends of King Arthur. Then we’ll return to our accommodations in Devon.

Day 3:
The Cotswolds – Bampton – Oxford
Traveling north we’ll visit one of the most scenic areas outside of London: The Cotswolds. Filled with charming and historic villages, the majority of structures here were carved from the unique Cotswold stones that are found here, which give the houses a gold tint. By the afternoon we’ll visit the village of Bampton, famous for hosting the fiction village of Downton from the award-winning TV series Downton Abbey. Feel free to explore the town’s church, which featured numerous major scenes from this acclaimed drama. In the late afternoon we’ll arrive in Oxford, home to the University of Oxford, the oldest university in the English-speaking world. We’ll have an orientation tour here to introduce you to this city’s historic centre and University to discover why its nicknamed the “City of Dreaming Spires.” Then we’ll enjoy dinner and settle into our hotel.

Day 4:
Stratford Upon Avon – Liverpool
From Oxford we’ll travel to another historic city of England: the hometown of William Shakespeare, Stratford-upon-Avon. Over 800 years old, many of the original buildings from the bard’s era still stand in this market town. Feel free to explore here – and don’t miss the chance to visit Shakespeare’s house! From Stratford we’ll continue north to Liverpool, also home to some famous bards – The Beatles! We’ll introduce ourselves to their hometown with a driving tour to the Albert Dock, Anfield Football Stadium, and a variety of sites and attractions that’ll entrance Beattle fans. The evening is yours to discover the city’s lively nightlife, and we suggest you head to Mathew Street, the beating heart of the live music scene and home to the world-famous ‘Cavern Club’, where The Beatles first made their mark on modern music.

Day 5:
Samlesbury – Windermere – Cumbria
Enjoy a short drive after breakfast today as we head to Samlesbury, our first destination for the day. Here we’ll visit Samlesbury Hall, a famous medieval manor house and stately home built in the 14th century with included admission. From Samlesbury we’ll enter the stunning Lake District of England and visit Windermere, the largest natural lake in England. Feel free to explore here, take plenty of photos, and enjoy the lovely English countryside. We’ll end the day in at our accommodation in Cumbria, a dazzling natural region of untouched wilderness that inspirited great artists such as Wordsworth and Coleridge.

Day 6:
Hadrian’s Wall – Alnwick Castle – Durham Cathedral – York
Cross another English highlight of your bucket list as we take the morning to visit Hadrian’s Wall, the northern limit of the Roman Empire in ancient times that still stands today. Afterwards, we’ll visit Alnwick Castle, home of the Duke of Northumberland and the second-largest inhabited castle in England after Windsor Castle. You may recognize it from numerous famous films and TV shows, including two Harry Potter films (The Philosopher’s Stone and The Chamber of Secrets), Downton Abbey and Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves. Next up we’ll stop at Durham Cathedral, a nearly 1000 year old UNESCO World Heritage Site and one the finest examples of Norman architecture. In the later afternoon we’ll arrive in York, where we’ll enjoy a walking tour of this historic walled city before an included farewell dinner this evening

Day 7:
Cambridge – London
Though it is the last day of our tour of England, we’re going to make the best of it! The main treat on our agenda today is a drive south to the stunning university town of Cambridge, home to immaculate architecture, quirky traditions, and rich history. As is tradition for all visitors to Cambridge, we’ll take a punting tour (boat tour) along the Cambridge River and learn about the great minds that have passed through this city, from Charles Darwin to William Wordsworth. Then we’ll end our week long England tour as we return to London.
