The Meaning of the Name

“Sea of Milk” is how Dudhsagar is translated literally. The fall’s milky white waters more than live up to its name. It’s fascinating to learn about the myths that surround the waterfall. In order to shield herself from a Prince who was staring at her while she was taking a bath in the lake near the Mandovi River, the Princess poured a mug full of milk. The never-ending flow of milky waters began as a result.

Location

The waterfall is located in the state of Goa, very close to the Karnataka border. Because of its rich ecological diversity, it is home to a variety of wildlife. Also, it is a part of the Bhagwan Mahavir Sanctuary.

Important considerations before visiting Dudhsagar Falls

  • Prepare to spend an entire day admiring the waterfall and its surroundings. It is a haven for pristine natural wonders in the Western Ghats.
  • Bring a swimsuit and a change of clothes because you will be able to spend some time in the cold waters beneath the lower tiers of the fall.
  • Life jackets are absolutely required.
  • Make sure you have enough water and food for the day, as there are no shops inside the National Park. Also, please do not litter near the waterfall or in the Park.
  • The best option is to purchase entry tickets online, which eliminates the need to wait in lines and delays entry.
  • The jungle paths can make the jeep ride through the Park a bit bumpy. This ride will be hard for people who have back pain. Also, make sure your kids are safe.
  • Because you have to ride in a jeep, it might be hard for older people. From where the jeep drops you off to the base of the falls, there is a short 1-kilometer walk.
  • Usually, a ride in a jeep costs about $500 per person, and you’ll share it with other tourists.
